Sustainability of Marine Ecosystem Production under Multi-stressors and Adaptive Management
Entry ID: MEcoPAM

Summary
Abstract: Sustainability of marine ecosystem production is impacted by multi-stressors, such as physical process, eutrophication, over fishing, and aquaculture. The objectives of this project are to identify and characterize the interaction of marine biogeochemical cycles and marine ecosystem, and to understand the response of sustainability of typical marine ecosystems to multi-stressors. The goal of this project is to improve knowledge on and elucidate the impact of multi-stressors on the sustainability of marine ecosystem production.

Purpose: The research area mainly target at some unique sub-ecosystems in the Bohai Sea, Yellow Sea, and East China Sea, such as hypoxia zone off the Changjiang Estuary and aquacultural sites in Shandong peninsula. The major scientific questions to be addressed are:
 Impact of multi-stressors on biogeochemical cycles in coastal ecosystems (e.g. hydrodynamic control of biogenic element cycles, coupling ... View entire text
