North Temperate Lakes LTER: Lake Levels
Entry ID: NTL_PH02

Summary
Abstract: Lake level is measured at the shore line using a bi-annually-calibrated staff
gauge for the seven primary lakes in the Trout Lake area (Allequash, Big
Muskellunge, Crystal, Sparkling, and Trout lakes and unnamed lakes 27-02, and
12-15). Other parameters measured concurrently include water temperature,
vertical penetration of photosynthetically active radiation (PAR), dissolved
oxygen (see physical data), ice thickness, snow depth on lake, secchi disk
depth (see secchi disk data set), chemical parameters (see nutrient and major
ion data sets), and plankton (see chlorophyll, primary production and
zooplankton data sets). Auxiliary data include time of day, air temperature,
wave height, cloud cover, and wind speed and direction.
