AIRS/Aqua L2 Cloud-Cleared Infrared Radiances (AIRS-only) V006 (AIRS2CCF) at GES DISC
Entry ID: AIRS2CCF_006

Summary
Abstract: The Atmospheric Infrared Sounder (AIRS) is a grating spectrometer (R = 1200) aboard the second Earth Observing System (EOS) polar-orbiting platform, EOS Aqua. In combination with the Advanced Microwave Sounding Unit (AMSU) and the Humidity Sounder for Brazil (HSB), AIRS constitutes an innovative atmospheric sounding group of visible, infrared, and microwave sensors. This product is similar to ... View entire text

Quality This product is similar to AIRI2CCF.006 except the processing system that produced these radiances uses only the AIRS channels. This product contains a flag for each radiance frequency indicating the quality. The three options for this quality flag are: 0 for best quality, 1 for good quality, 2 for do not use. A limitation of this product is in scenes with low contrast between the nine AIRS footprints the cloud clearing determination is poorer. Also in scenes with clouds above an inversion the warmest footprint is not necessarily the clearest.
