United States Historical Climatology Network (HCN) Serial Temperature And Precipitation Data, CDIAC NDP-019/R3
Entry ID: CDIAC_NDP19_Revision 3, Updated August 2006

Summary
Abstract: The United States Historical Climatology Network (USHCN) is a high quality,
moderate-sized data set of daily and monthly records of basic meteorological
variables from over 1000 observing stations across the 48 contiguous United
States.

Daily and monthly USHCN data are available:
http://cdiac.ornl.gov/epubs/ndp/ushcn/newushcn.html

The monthly data (NDP-019/R3) are in 13 files (1 station inventory file, 1
station history file, 6 temperature files, 1 precipitation file, 1
time-of-observation correction file, and 2 quality assessment files). The files
range from 5 kB to about 50 MB. Monthly data consist of monthly averaged
maximum, minimum, and mean temperature and total monthly precipitation from
1221 stations. Data records generally include the period from 1900 through
2002. Daily data (NDP-070) are available through 2005:
