LIDAR vertical profiles of stratospheric aerosol in Antarctica by IFA/CNR from 1990 to 1992 at McMurdo Base

[ Get Data ]

Abstract: The LIDAR experiment was installed at McMurdo station
(Antarctica) in August 1990 to investigate the presence
of Polar Stratospheric Clouds (PSCs) in the stratosphere.
With a telescope of 41.5 cm of diameter, a laser power
higher than 100 mJ and 2 acquisition channels (main and
cross polarization) it is able to give informations on
the atmospheric aerosol load and on the optical properties
of the PSCs particles.
The data set covers the end-spring season in 1990, 91, 92
and the entire winter and spring season in the succesive
years, with a measurement of 10 minutes every 2 days on
