Abstract:
LTER - Long-Term Ecological Research Program/North Inlet Salt Marsh,
South Carolina (NIN)

In order to calculate phytoplankton biomass, chlorophyll-a
and phaeophytin-a concentrations in the salt marsh tidal
creeks were measured daily. Water samples
... were collected every
day at 1000 hrs EST at a depth of 0.5 meter at three stations:
Town Creek, Oyster Landing and Clambank. Starting on 8
September 1978, samples were collected at Town Creek;
then after 1 February 1981, samples were also collected at
Oyster Landing and Clambank. Beginning in May 1987, Town Creek
samples were only collected every third month. Sampling at
Oyster Landing and Clambank continued daily until 31 December 1991.
These databases are the result of long-term monitoring begun in the
late 1970s and early 1980s in the North Inlet Estuary, Georgetown
County, South Carolina. The National Science Foundation funded the
Long-Term Ecological Research (LTER) program in the North Inlet
Estuary from 1981 to June, 1993.
