These data sets contain monthly seasonal percentage probability projections of the Palmer Drought Severity Index (PDSI) for state climatic divisions within each region of the contiguous U.S. The probabilities are obtained by running the current Palmer drought data for each climate division 3 months ahead ... using the weather scenarios (temperature and precipitation) of all the past years since and including 1931. PDSI percentages are computed for 7 drought categories ranging from dry to wet. The probability in percent for a given category is the number of times the projected PDSI fell in a given drought category divided by the number of years since 1931 times 100. The 7 categories include extreme or severe drought, moderate drought, mild drought, near normal or incipient conditions, moist spell, unusual moist spell, and very or extreme moist spell. The temperature and moisture data are collected from ground stations throughout the U.S. The data are displayed in tabular form. CAC only keeps the previous seasonal data on-line.
