Abstract:
This is the Fisheries and Oceans Canada Maritimes Region database for
sightings records of cetaceans, other large pelagic animals and marine mammal
survey information. The bulk of the information contained in the database is
gathered from the Scotian Shelf - Bay of Fundy Region, but also contains some
records from other areas of the east coast of Canada. The Database stores data
ranging from standard cetacean sightings surveys to observations collected from
vessels of opportunity. Sources for sightings data are diverse. Detailed
information on individual sightings, including animal behaviour, is
incorporated when available.
