Abstract:
The University of Miami's Rosenstiel School of Marine and
Atmospheric Science now has available daily composite imagery of sea
surface temperature (SST) for various ocean locations around the
world. The images are obtained from NOAA's sun-synchronous polar orbiting
satellites at 1 km and 4 km spatial resolution. The areas depicted in

... transmission (HRPT) and local area coverage
(LAC) are the northwestern Atlantic Ocean (east coast of North
America), the northwestern Pacific Ocean, the Ross Sea and adjacent
areas of Antarctica, and the Arabian Sea (Indian Ocean). The areas
depicted in global area coverage (GAC) are the east coast of
Australia, southern Africa, the southeastern coast of South America, the
northeastern coast of Africa, the Greenland Sea east of Greenland, and
the Labrador Sea east of Labrador. These daily SST composites and the
composites of the previous six days are available on the World Wide
