Abstract:
A5 - TVA Bell 205 Helicopter Data
The Southern Oxidants Study (SOS) conducted a major field research
campaign in Nashville/Middle Tennessee area in June and July 1994 and
1995. The goal of this study was to improve scientific understanding
of the processes that control the production and distribution of ozone
in the troposphere.
The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) Bell 205 helicopter conducted
... airborne experiments on 18 days during the 1995 Southern Oxidants
Study (SOS) Nashville/Middle tennessee ozone study. The helicopter
participated in experiments focusing on power plant plume chemistry
and near field urban plume measurements. The study measured nitric
oxide (NO), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), total nitrogen oxides (NOy), ozone
(O3), fast ozone (FO3), carbon monoxide (CO), sulfur dioxide (SO2),
volatile organic compounds (VOCs), total peroxides, hydrogen peroxide
(H2O2), temperature, relative humidity, altitude, and position.
The study was conducted from June 21, 1995 through July 20, 1995.
The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) was the coordinator for the 1995
Southern Oxidants Study Nashville/Middle Tennessee Ozone Study. See:
