This dataset consists of two polygons representing areas of sediment known as the Sorsdal Formation in Marine Plain, Vestfold Hills, Antarctica. These are part of the Antarctic Specially Protected Area No.143.

Quality
The features were digitised from Figure 2 in the paper referenced below. The resulting data were georeferenced and clipped/extended to match the existing Vestfold Hills coastline data. The data are shown in Map D of the Marine Plain Management Plan. Refer to a link below. The data has been formatted according to the SCAR Feature Catalogue. Refer to a link below. The dates given in temporal coverage are approximate only. Only the years are correct. Dates more accurate than year are not known.
Usually mapped using a Universal Transverse Mercator projection, Zone 44
