Abstract:
Shapefile indicating areas of valid and invalid slope corrected orthometric heights derived from ERS Radar Altimetry. Refer to metadata record GRI_ORT_SLC_FIN for more information.
Quality
The reliability shapefile was generated from the file of slope corrected orthometric heights (refer to metadata record GRI_ORT_SLC_FIN). All points in the file were used. An area was generated around each polygon using the Thiessen command in Arc/Info. This creates polygon boundaries that fall midway between adjacent points. Polygons surrounding invalid points were merged and the polygons around valid points were likewise merged (Arc/Info Dissolve command was used). This produced a shapefile of areas containing valid points and invalid points. The number of points inside invalid areas was also attached to the invalid polygons (Count field).

Available unprojected or in a Polar Stereographic projection with true scale at 71 degrees S. ArcView shapefiles are available on the web (refer to the url below). Conditions apply.
