Summary
Abstract: We characterize dominant Patagonian species based in several
attributes that influence the ecosystem functioning. Species were
characterized by their potential mineralization, their effects on soil
water content and temperature, and their phenology. The information
was collected between September 2003 and January 2004 in field
expeditions to Rio Mayo, Chubut Province, Argentina. These data were
obtained for project CRN12 (The Role of Biodiversity and Climate in
the Functioning of Ecosystems: A Comparative Study or Grasslands,
Savannas, and Forests), which has Dr. Osvaldo E. Sala as PI.
