Abstract:
Historical Drought Data (HDD) is historical data set DSI-9658 archived at the National Climatic Data Center (NCDC). The data set includes temperature and precipitation data from climatic divisions of the 48 contiguous states of the United States of America. The precipitation data also includes Hawaii, Alaska, and some Caribbean islands. Temperature and precipitation were used as inputs to compute the other parameters: Palmer Drought Severity Index (PDSI), Palmer Hydrological Drought Index (PHDI), and Palmer Moisture and Abnormality Index (Z).
Purpose:
To make a wide range of climatic data available to researchers and the public.
