Abstract:
This web interface is being developed as a proof of concept for the
use of remotely sensed earth observations from various platforms in
the mapping of coral reefs around the globe. This collaboration
involves a large number of organizations and individuals from around
the world.
The first of the three images is a scaled-down version of the
most recent global composite of SeaWiFS one-kilometer
... data that have
been passed through a depth-classification algorithm. The second image
shows coral reef locations in red. This image was created by the World
Conservation Monitoring Centre using data from a variety of
navigational charts and other maps. The map data are also distributed
as part of the International Center for Living Aquatic Resources
Management database called ReefBase. The third image shows the
locations of images from various sensors which can be viewed with this
web interface.
