Abstract:
SIESIP is a distributed ESIP consortium involving several universities
(George Mason University, and University of Delaware), an
internationally known seasonal to interannual (S-I) research center
(Center for Ocean-Land-Atmosphere Studies), and a NASA data center
(Goddard Distributed Active Archive Center) to develop, implement, and
... operate a distributed data and information system that will address
the research needs of one of the highest scientific priorities of the
international CLIVAR program, the US Global Change Research Program,
and NASA's Earth Science Enterprise; namely, the S-I climate
variability, predictability, and prediction problem. CLIVAR will
address the role played by the global oceans in influencing changes in
climate over tens of years through the interactions between
atmosphere, ocean and ice and finally to the detection and attribution
of anthropogenic influences in the inherently variable climate such as
seasonal effects of monsoons and El Nino.
