Abstract:
At the AMRC offices in the Crary Science and Engineering Center at
McMurdo Station, the AMRC collects and archives the National Oceanic
and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) polar orbiting High Resolution
Picture Transmission (HRPT) images from the earth station there. This
data is archived on tape and the tapes are periodically flown in from
McMurdo to be added to
... the archive at the University of Wisconsin -
Madison. This data includes all five channels of the AVHRR instrument
along with the TIP data (HIRS and MSU, etc.). The AVHRR data is at
1-kilometer resolution since the images are from the HRPT signal. The
AMRC has been archiving the NOAA polar orbiting data since 30 October
1992. We do have some data voids from 25 August 1993 to 23 Febuary
1994 and 2 November 1995 to October 1996.
