Abstract:
The British Oceanographic Data Centre publishes a CD-ROM of the
Biogeochemical Ocean Flux Study, which contains data from the North
Atlantic Ocean and the Southern Ocean. See Parameter Keywords and
General Keywords for a list of the data types available on the CD.
Data from the North Atlantic come from the 1989 Spring Bloom
Experiment (three cruises), the 1990 Lagrangian Experiment (five
... cruises), the 1990 benthic cruise, and the 1991 Coccolithophore Bloom
Experiment (two cruises). These data include 534 CTD casts, 246 XBT
drops, 6230 water samples, 1080 SeaSore profiles, 116 zooplankton net
hauls, over 380 incubation experiments, 68 grazing experiments, 75
cores, 22 AVHRR satellite images, X-ray photographs of 14 Kasten
cores, and underway surface measurements.
Data from the Southern Ocean come from the STERNA92 cruises of
RRS Discovery and RRS James Clark Ross, including 38 acoustic fish
tows, 16 Go-Flo bottle stations, 32 bucket samples, 116 CTD stations,
1153 non-toxic supply samples, 3 ice cores, 4 in situ production
experiments, 16 hand-held krill net catches, 21 lightfish tows, 9
stand-alone pump stations, 4 drifting sediment trap deployments, 828
SeaSoar depth profiles, 66 XBT drops, and 82 zooplankton net hauls.
The package also includes a comprehensive 150 page User Guide and
an extensive software interface.
