Abstract:
Water column sampling for nutrient chemistries (NO2+NO3, NO2,
Si(OH)4, PO4 and NH4) were collected using a CTD niskin rosette
sampler during 4 cruises to the Antarctic, April-September 2001 and
2002. The general survey area includes: the continental margin to the
west of the Antarctic Peninsula extending from the northern tip of
Adelaide
... Island to the southern portion of Alexander Island,
Marguerite Bay, and seaward to depths of 3000 meters.
Analytical methods used for silica, phosphate, nitrite, and nitrate
follow the recommendations of Gordon et al. (1993) for the WOCE WHP
project. Ammonia followed modified methods reported by Grosshoff
(1976). An upgraded five-channel Technicon Autoanalyzer II system was
used for sample analysis.
