Summary
Abstract: The USGS provides a series of planetary maps featuring more than 750 titles. These include selected maps of the Moon, Venus, Mercury, Mars, and the moons of Jupiter. Planetary maps are available in folded version only. The Maps of the World series comes in three different product sizes. Size 1 - a single sheet 42 by 56 inches, with a scale of 1:30,000,000. Size 2 - three sheets that assemble to a 55- by 74-inch map, with a scale of 1:22,000,000. Size 3 - six sheets that assemble to an 88- by 118-inch map with a scale of 1:14,000,000. All map sections can be ordered individually. This Dynamic Planet is a colorful world map showing the boundaries of the lithospheric plates, locations of volcanoes, and earthquake zones. This map has a scale of 1:30,000,000 and measures 41 by 58 inches.

Purpose: Established in 1879, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) has Federal responsibility for preparing multipurpose maps and fundamental cartographic data to meet the requirements of users throughout the United States. In addition to U.S. maps, the Survey also provides a wide assortment of world and planetary maps.
