Abstract:
The Coupling, Energetics, and Dynamics of Atmospheric Regions (CEDAR)
Data Base at NCAR/HAO holds data collected from the Fabry-Perot
Interferometers (FPI). These data include brightness (often
uncalibrated), neutral temperature, and line-of-sight neutral winds.
Derived parameters include vector neutral winds. Of the 9 FPIs in the
CEDAR Data Base, 8 use the measurements at 630 nm. The Peach
... Mountain
FPI has measurements at 557.7 nm at around 97 km and OH (hydroxyl)
measurements around 86 km. The FPI data include:
1. FPI red line data from Halley, Antarctica (75.5S, 26.6W). Data in
the CEDAR Data Base are from 1988-1993. The station has been in
operation since 1988. The contact person is Matthew Paley. The Halley
FPI is operated by the British Antarctic Survey.
2. FPI monthly average red line data from Arequipa, Peru (16.5S,
71.5W). Monthly averaged data in the CEDAR Data Base are from
1983-1990. The FPI has been in operation since 1988. The contact
person is Manfred Biondi. The Arequipa FPI is operated by the
University of Pittsburgh with support from the NSF and NASA.
3. FPI red line data from Arecibo, Puerto Rico (18.35N, 66.75W). Data
from 1980-1988 are in the CEDAR Data Base. The station has been in
operation since 1972. The contact person is Craig Tepley. The Arecibo
FPI is operated by Cornell University under agreement with the NSF.
4. FPI green line and OH data from Peach Mountain, USA (42.4N,
86.93W). Data from May 1993 through March 1994 are in the CEDAR Data
Base. The FPI has been in operation since 1989. The contact person is
Rick Niciejewski. The Peach Montain FPI is operated by the College of
Engineering at University of Michigan with funding by NSF and NASA.
5. FPI red line data from Millstone Hill, USA (42.6N, 71.5W). Data
from 1989-1995 are in the CEDAR Data Base. The MIT FPI has been in
operation since 1986. The contact person is Dwight Sipler. The
Millstone Hill FPI is supported by the NSF.
6. FPI red line data from Watson Lake, Canada (60.06N, 128.58W). Data
from November 1991 through April 1992 are in the CEDAR Data Base. The
FPI has been in operation since 1991. The contact person is Rick
Niciejewski. The Watson Lake FPI is operated by the University of
Michigan with support from the NSF and the USAF.
7. FPI red line data from College, USA (64.7N, 148.1W). Data between
March 1981 and April 1983 are in the CEDAR Data Base. The FPI had
been in operation from 1981-1986. The contact person is Robert Sica.
The College FPI was operated by the University of Alaska with support
from the NSF.
8. FPI red line data from Sondre Stromfjord, Greenland (66.99N,
50.95W). Data from 1983-1994 are in the CEDAR Data Base. The FPI has
been in operation since 1983. The contact person is Rick
Niciejewski. The Sondre Stromfjord FPI is operated by the University
of Michigan with support from the NSF.
9. FPI red line data from Thule, Greenland (76,53N, 68.44W). Data
between September 1987 and March 1989 are in the CEDAR Data Base. The
FPI has been in operation since 1984. The contact person is Rick
Niciejewski. The Thule FPI is operated by the University of Michigan
with support from the NSF and from the USAF Research Laboratory.
The CEDAR Data Base is accessible through the WWW and ftp, but users
must have a valid access form, available from the WWW or ftp (see
Access and Use constraints) or contact Barbara Emery
