Project
Quality Quality of specimen identification varies depending on the state of taxonomic review of various groups. Where expertise, reference material and documentation were available, species (or OTU) identifications are generally reliable (eg. Fishes, Crustacea, Mollusca, Porifera), some groups have intermediate identification reliability (generally to genus: Echinodermata, some Cnidaria, Bryozoa), whereas a few groups had limited depth of identification (eg. Annelida, Ascidiacea, Hydroidea, Crinoidea).
Access Constraints Species ID, location, date-time and depth data are freely available via OBIS. Ancillary data is currently restricted to the custodian, not for public release at this time in this form.
Use Constraints Acknowledge the use of specific records from contributing databases in the form
appearing in the 'Citation' field thereof (if any); and acknowledge the use of
the OBIS facility.

For information purposes, email to obissupport@marine.rutgers.edu the full
citation of any publication made (printed or electronic) that cites OBIS or any
constituent part.
