Abstract:
The Lightning Detection and Ranging (LDAR) dataset contains location and time of occurrence of lightning. The seven sensor array (six arranged in a nearly regular hexagon, with the seventh in the center)detects the radio frequency emission of at 66MHz (+/- 3Mhz) of lightning flashes. Using a Time of Arrival (TOA) algorithm the system then determines the distance in meters in x,y,z coordinates from the central sensor (the origin), and time of occurrence in microseconds of the lightning flash.
