Pathogen Modeling Program (PMP)
Entry ID: USDA_ARS_PMP
Summary
Abstract:
The Pathogen Modeling Program (PMP) is a package of models that can be used to predict the growth and inactivation of foodborne bacteria, primarily pathogens, under various environmental conditions. These predictions are specific to certain bacterial strains and specific environments (e.g., culture media, food, etc.) that were used to generate the models. The accuracy of these predictions cannot be guaranteed for other bacterial strains and/or environments, without proper validation studies. Since the early 1990s, the PMP has been distributed in various forms, ranging from spreadsheets to stand-alone software, and most recently online.
