Abstract:
Matlab files containing raw data collected using the program "HC2S3snowwind.CR1" running on Campbell Scientific CR1000 dataloggers. Datalogger "C" was used during all ice stations. On the 8th of October a second mast and logger ("A") were installed on what became the final day of Ice Station 4, and both loggers were deployed at stations 6 and 7, with "C" containing the longer records for each ... station as it was always installed first and (conditions permitting) left out longer.
The sensors on these masts consist of: RM Young "Wind Sentry" Vane and Anemometer set (on top of each mast), no serial numbers Rotronics HC2S3 temperature and relative humidity sensors with standard polyethylene filters Upper sensor, mast "C": s/n 60837541 Lower sensor, mast "C": s/n 60837536 Upper sensor, mast "A": s/n 60837468 Lower sensor, mast "A": s/n 60834204 RM Young "Wind Sentry" anemometers (without vane) at 3 additional elevations on each mast Wenglor YHO3NCT8 photoelectric sensors at 4 heights on each mast. The upper sensor and the third sensor from the top were oriented facing up, while the others faced down. The upper three sensors were purchased in 2012, from a batch of these sensors manufactured in a new Eastern European factory while the lowest sensor on each mast came from a lot purchased in 2007, manufactured in Wenglor's German factory and extensively tested for use in snow.

Description:
The MODIS Level-3 Land products are generated by the MODIS Adaptive Processing System (MODAPS), located at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, as gridded output in the Integerized Sinusoidal (ISIN) projection. These data products are then sent to the EDC DAAC for archive and distribution. The ISIN projection is unique to the MODIS land products, analogous to the Sinusoidal projection except that the ISIN projection is centered about 0° longitude and special coefficients are used to flatten the ellipsoid. The ISIN projection was devised for the Level-3+ products because it employs a tessellation scheme, efficient organization, and hierarchical management of the multi-resolution data acquired by the MODIS sensor.

The Geographic Resources Analysis Support System (GRASS) is a Geographic Information System (GIS) used for data management, image processing, graphics production, spatial modelling, and visualization of many types of data. It is free software released under GNU General Public License (GPL). Originally written by the U.S. Army Construction Engineering Research Laboratories (USA-CERL, 1982-1995), a branch of the US Army Corp of Engineers, as a tool for land management and environmental planning by the military, GRASS has evolved into a powerful utility with a wide range of applications in many different areas of scientific research. GRASS is currently used in academic and commercial settings around the world, as well as many governmental agencies including NASA, NOAA, USDA, the National Park Service, the U.S. Census Bureau, USGS, and many environmental consulting companies.
Description:
The General Cartographic Transformation Package (GCTP) is a system of software routines designed to permit the transformation of coordinate pairs from one map projection to another. The GCTP is the standard computer software used by the National Mapping Division for map projection computations.
Because of requirements internal to the EROS Data Center, the GCTP software was converted from FORTRAN to the C programming language, and several new projections were added. During the conversion process, the software was tested on the following UNIX systems: Data General running DG/UX Release 5.4R2.01 AViiON, SUN running SunOS Release 4.1.3, and Silicon Graphics running IRIX Release 5.3 IP7. In addition, the software has also been verified against the current National Mapping Division (NMD) GCTP software. This new version, GCTPC, is being made available informally on a 'user-beware' basis. EDC assumes no responsibility for the accuracy of the routines in this package.
