At its Satellite Communications Facility, the Johns Hopkins University
Applied Physics Laboratory receives daily data from the AVHRR instrument onboard the NOAA polar orbiting satellites. The JHU/APL Ocean Remote Sensing Group rapidly processes estimates of sea surface temperature (SST) from these data.
