Summary

Abstract: Distribution, abundance and dates of relict Adélie Penguin colonies in the Australian Antarctic Territory (AAT).

Current mapping efforts have focussed on the Windmill Islands in preparation for a PhD study to commence in 2004/05 with the two investigators.

The planned PhD study will work at either the Windmill Islands or the Vestfold Hills.

Quality Current dataset comprises maps and GPS data. Some maps date from the early 1960s. GPS data were collected in 2001/02 and 2002/03 summer seasons in the Windmill Islands.

Access Constraints Maps were published by Richard Penny in 1966 with supplementary maps published in Woehler et al in 1991. GPS data have been deposited with the AADC.

Contact the AADC for access to unpublished GPS data.

An excel spreadsheet of radiocarbon analysis and isotopes is also included in the download file (not yet publicly available). Also included in the download file is a pdf copy of the Emslie and Woehler paper (not yet publicly available).
