Summary

Abstract:
Data on changes in the earth's orbital parameters and the resulting variations in insolation were calculated by A. Berger of the Catholic University of Louvain in Belgium. Data includes both the 1978 calculations and the latest (1991) solution published in Quaternary Science Reviews. The 1978 solution is preferred for time 0 (1950 A.D.). The two solutions are equivalent through 800,000 YBP, and the 1991 solution is preferred for times greater than 800,000 YBP. The format of the 1978 files is described in the file "ftp://ftp.ncdc.noaa.gov/pub/data/paleo/insolation/contents.78". The format for the 1991 files is in file "ftp://ftp.ncdc.noaa.gov/pub/data/paleo/insolation/contents.91". Please cite Dr. Berger when using this data. A version of this data set Earth Insolation for 1.1 Million Years is available from NCAR at cost. See: "http://dss.ucar.edu/datasets/ds861.0/" |
