Sediment from the Western and the Eastern Antarctic Peninsula is analyzed in order to know its grain size and organic matter content. Fresh and degraded pigments (Chla, Chlb, Chlc and Pheoa, Pheob, Pheoc, respectively) and total proteins are quantified in order to investigate on sedimentary organic matter quality in the two study areas. En Español: Ha sido analizado sedimento de la Península Antártica Occidental y de la Península Antártica Oriental para conocer su tamaño de grano y contenido en materia orgánica. Se han cuantificado los pigmentos frescos y los degradados (Chla, Chlb, Chlc y Pheoa, Pheob, Pheoc, respectivamente) y las proteínas totales para investigar sobre la calidad de la materia orgánica en las dos áreas de estudio.
