Summary
Abstract:
The Puerto Rico data resides in 1 book, 'Normal tempertaure of Porto Rico' (C/hc50 F24 31396). In these summaries, definitions are: 1. Hourly/daily/monthly/seasonal/annual data -- values determined for each consecutive period, e.g. monthly temperature data: Jan 1900, Feb 1900, etc. 2. Long-term data -- values determined over a period of years, e.g. long-term monthly temperature data using ... Jan 1901, Jan 1902, etc. This book contains tables and maps of monthly and annual mean surface temperature data from 43 reporting stations in Puerto Rico for periods of 3 to 11 years between 1899 and 1910. Tables contain the following data: long-term monthly mean temperature; long-term monthly mean maximum and minimum temperature (6 stations only--Jan and Jul only); long-term annual mean temperature; and long-term annual mean maximum and minimum temperature (6 stations only). Maps contain the following data: long-term monthly temperature (Jan and Jul only); long-term annual mean temperature; and long-term annual mean maximum and minimum daily temperature. Additional Puerto Rico data resides in 1 book, 'Resumen de las Observaciones Meteorologicas...por la Jefatura de Obras Publicas de la Ysla de Puerto Rico' (C/hc50 AOJ). In these summaries, definitions are as in the above. This book contains tables of monthly surface weather data from Puerto Rico for August 1876 - September 1881 and for June and July of 1884. The tables contain the following monthly data: mean pressure, temperature, humidity, vapor pressure, and evaporation; absolute maximum and minimum pressure, temperature, humidity, vapor pressure, and evaporation; total rainfall; maximum daily rainfall; number of observations of wind direction; and maximum wind speed for each direction. Additional Puerto Rico data resides in 1 book, 'U.S. Weather Bureau-Weekly Weather Bulletin. Porto Rico Section 1934' (C/hc50 Aow). In these summaries, definitions are as in the above. This book contains tables of weekly surface weather data from 15 to 34 reporting stations in Puerto Rico for January 1 to December 29 1934. The tables contain weekly absolute maximum and minimum temperature, and total rainfall. Additional Puerto Rico data resides in 1 book, 'Monthly and Annual Rainfall of Porto Rico--U.S. Weather Bureau' (C/hc50 Aom 49481). In these summaries, definitions are as in the above. This book contains tables of monthly and annual rainfall data from approximately 60 reporting station in Puerto Rico. Most of the stations report for the years 1899 to 1927 but there are numerous exceptions to the starting and ending dates. The records for San Juan go back to June of 1867. There is one table of other surface weather data from San Juan for 1927. Tables contain the following data: monthly total rainfall; annual total rainfall; long-term monthly mean rainfall; and long-term annual mean rainfall. The table for San Juan for 1927 contains the following monthly data: mean temperature, percent of sunshine, and surface winds; mean maximum and minimum temperature; mean (given hour) humidity; total rainfall; maximum wind speed; and number of days with rainfall over .01', clear sky, partly sky, and cloudy sky. Additional Puerto Rico data resides in 1 book, 'Annual Average Rainfall of Porto Rico' (C/hc50 F24 31056). In these summaries, definitions are as in the above. These documents contain tables and maps of long-term monthly, annual, and seasonal rainfall data and tables of long-term monthly and annual temperature data for up to 44 reporting stations in Puerto Rico for 1899 through 1910. Tables contain the following data: long-term monthly mean temperature, rainfall, and number of days with rainfall; long-term monthly mean maximum and minimum temperature and rainfall; long-term monthly maximum daily rainfall; long-term seasonal mean rainfall; long-term annual mean temperature, rainfall, number of days; rainfall, and frequency of days with stated amounts of rainfall, long-term annual mean maximum and minimum temperature and rainfall; and long-term annual maximum daily rainfall. Maps contain the following data: long-term monthly maximum rainfall; long-term seasonal mean rainfall; and long-term annual mean rainfall. These books are part of the foreign meteorological data collection held by the NOAA Central Library in Washington, DC. Information in this collection dates back to the 18th century for daily, monthly, seasonal, and annual tabular summaries, and the 19th century for weather maps. These data are the result of foreign exchange agreements, but the collection has not been updated since 1983.
