The geological data and mapping are based on the 1971 National Mapping map (map number 42 in AADC map catalogue). The 1971 map is inaccurate and is derived from 1947 and later aerial photography and Blake's surveys of 1911. The geological maps did not use the topographic data derived from the georeferenced SPOT image (of the island available at the time so the geological data cannot be overlaid over the 1:25,000 maps or data of the island produced by the AADC(map numbers 13145 and 13146 in the AADC map catalogue).
