Summary
Abstract:
The Southern Hemisphere Working Group (SHWG) was chartered by the Council of the International Permafrost Association. It's goal is to create a scientific platform to bring together and stimulate interaction between permafrost and periglacial researchers in the Southern Hemisphere. The SHWG also aims to synthesize permafrost and periglacial research data and information from the Southern Hemisphere. SHWG members reviewed the understanding, issues, and current status of permafrost for their respective regions, and published their findings in South African Journal of Science Volume 98, Number 1-2). The SHWG is also compiling a comprehensive bibliography on permafrost and periglacial studies for the various regions in the Southern Hemisphere.
