forested. Later, the crops at the site were
Tha land uses in the experiment are: Rotation 1 -
wheat,maize,maize,pea; Rotation 2 - wheat,maize,maize,wheat; Rotation
3 - 4 x maize. Treatments: NPK treatments (20-40 treatments).
The soil at the site is described as a Aquochrept (USDA):
Apl 0-25 cm: ... blackish-brown clayey-loam with blocky like polyhedral
structure, non-calcareous. AB 25-40 cm: blackish-brown (somewhat
reddish-brown when dried) clayey-loam with blocky like polyhedral
structure, more compact than the upper layer, calcareous. BC 40-80
cm: gradually becoming lighter in colour, greyish-brown clayey-loam
with blocky like structure and animal holes, strongly calcareous. C
80-120 cm: yellow, clayey loess with lime cores, 1-3 cm lime gravels
from 100 cm, strongly calcareous.
Nearest meteorological station to the site: Pecs. which is 11 km from
the site at coordinates 18deg9min E., 46deg3min N. The meteorological
station is manual.
