Normalized Difference Vegetation Index from NOAA_AVHRR dataEntry ID: DFD-NOAA_AVHRR_NDVI
Abstract: The available data set comprises Normalized Difference Vegetation Index NDVI
data derived from NOAA-AVHRR, and browse products; on-line access is offered by
means of the Intelligent Satellite Data Information System ISIS, a service of
the DFD within DLR at Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany.
These regularly produced data are DFD pathfinder products.The data are 8-bit
scaleded, pre-launch calibrated and ... geocoded. The projection type is
Stereographic with Center Latitude 51 N and Center Longitude 15 E.
Georeferencing of the image data is performed automatically by means of
coastline-, borderline- and grid data from the World Data Base 2.
The Interpolation Method is Nearest Neighbor. Georeferencing of the image data
is performed by means of the coastline data from the World Data Base 2. Clouds
and water are masked out (white and black).
The NDVI-Calculation is based on the AVHRR channels 1 and 2. The datasets have
the size of 4300 lines * 4100 columns; 17.6 MByte. Pixel Size for the images
is 1.1 km * 1.1 km (for Quicklooks 6.7 * 6.7 km).
The products are computed weekly as maximum composites.
Used data format is VFF Raster Standard Format; for Quicklooks it is

with `UNIX-compress`. For further information look at the `infoboard` on ISIS.

On-line access to data and information is provided by the Intelligent Satellite
Data Information System ISIS, developed by DLR as a client / server
configuration. It is representing the interface of DLR-DFD to users, providing
an easy access to catalogue-, inventory-, browse- and general textual

presumes the installation of the client configuration which can be easily done
