Abstract: "Agricultural Chemical Usage, Vegetables Summary" contains
fertilizer and pesticide use data for states and combined major
states for vegetable crops.
Collection Organization: ERS and NASS
Collection Methodology: The information presented is the result
of a sample survey conducted for the 1992 crop year (end of
harvest for the previous crop through ... harvest for the current
crop). The population consists of vegetable growers on the NASS
list of all farming operations in each state in the survey. The
sample was stratified by type of crop and size of operation. The
primary criteria for sample size was the ability to provide
accurate estimates of chemical usage at the state level.
Personal interviews were used to obtain the information.
Chemical data were collected at the product level and converted
to active ingredient for summarization.
Collection Frequency: Biannual survey - even years.
