Abstract:
The temperature increase registered during the last 30 years on the
Antarctic Peninsula has provoked melting in large areas that were formerly occupied by glaciers. The disappearance of the glaciers has created a circumstance that allows reasearchers to see and to study soils generated before glaciation, how they evolve in the present and to deduce their distribution in the landscape. Melting of large areas generates a mass movement of water, which attacks vegetation and soil and increases the likelihood of their disappearance. Geographic Coverage
