Abstract: Monthly-averaged Antarctic sea ice extents derived from satellite passive microwave radiometers (from the Nimbus 7 Scanning Multichannel Microwave Radiometer (SMMR) and the DMSP F8, F11, and F13 Special Sensor Microwave Imagers (SSMIs)) for the 28-year period 1979-2006 show an increase of 1.0 +- 0.4% per decade.
