This data package consists of two files in LOTUS 2.3 format.
These files contains weekly data from Soviet newspapers on the area of grains sown. The data are given as of each Monday, indicated by an *. In many cases, the weekly data were interpolated in the file. In 1989-91, the Soviets provided little information on spring seeding progress.
