Abstract: The purpose of this dataset is to study the interactions between
plants and the atmosphere and the turbulent exchange processes
involved in those interactions.
Collection Organization: Scientists in four states.
Collection Methodology: Multidisciplinary international team of
scientists gathered data in California, Maine, France, and
Canada. Different methods were used for each site. Depending
... on site, turbulence data were collected at 10 times a second for
air temperature, canopy surface temperature, humidity, carbon
dioxide concentration, and wind velocity. Some aircraft and
spacecraft-based radar thermal infrared and other optical data
were collected for some sites.
Collection Frequency: 10 Hz for raw data, with half hour
summaries. Sporadic for remotely-sensed data.
Update Characteristics: Datasets were gathered during
experimental periods. No updates are available, except for some
Several gigabytes of data, all residing in California.
Data Center: University of California, Davis
Dissemination Media: DC-600A tape cassettes, exabyte cassettes,
other tapes, magneto-optical disks, lab notebooks.
File Format: Mainly unformatted binary, some ASCII.
Access Instructions: Contact the data center.
