Summary

Abstract: Satellite image map of Gillock Island, Mac. Robertson Land, Antarctica. This map was produced for the Australian Antarctic Division by AUSLIG (now Geoscience Australia) Commercial, in Australia, in 1993. The map is at a scale of 1:100000, and was produced from Landsat TM scenes (WRS 128-109, 128-110, 127-109, 127-110). It is projected on a Transverse Mercator projection, and shows glaciers/ice shelves and gives some historical text information. The map has both geographical and UTM co-ordinates.

Data source: Four Landsat TM images (WRS 127-109, 127-110, 128-109, 128-110), acquired 22 February 1988 for the first two images and 18 March 1989 for the last two images respectively. Projection and Grid: Transverse Mercator, grid zone 43. Co-ordinates: Geographical and UTM. Horizontal datum: World Geodetic System 1984. Magnetic Variation: 74.5 degrees west in November 1993, and moves westerly by about 0.1 degree each year. Nomenclature: Names have been approved by the Antarctic Names Committee of Australia.
