Definition:
The change of land quality, for example through land transformation or intensification of land use. Common reasons for habitat conversion are deforestation/reforestation, suburbanization, corridor construction, desertification and agricultural intensification, e.g. wetland drainage, irrigation or degradation due to
overgrazing.
